Sydney's NYE Celebrations

NEW YEARS DAY: A calendar celebration and a secular holiday, 1 January marks the start of a new year according to the Christian calendar. New Years Eve, 31 December, is traditionally a time of eating, drinking, dancing and generally behaving in an uninhibited manner. “
“As well as the folk custom of well wishing, New Year is traditionally associated with new beginnings, with hopes for happiness and prosperity in the coming twelve months, and with ‘New Years Resolutions’ (Holiday Origins).

FIREWORKS have become the traditional way to spend your NYE – with friends and family, loved ones or complete strangers, gazing at the skies waiting for the next ball of exploding light to come shooting out of the harbor into the night sky.

There is a great time lapse video of the fireworks here: http://www.sydneynewyearseve.com/gallery/video-gallery
Strangely enough, the NYE Fireworks show does not directly advertise to the public, it relies on word of mouth and previous experiences to circulate the information.
However! Watching coloured balls of light is not the only way Sydney-siders choose to spend the last evening of the old year. There is an array of activities put on by the city in order to entertain the locals and attract travelers.
Darling Harbor has become a hot spot of clubs, bars and restaurants over the last 5-10 years, and with a front row seat to the fireworks, who wouldn’t want to sip on a glass of bubbly and ring in the New Year with friends in style.
